OLOG eNewsletter Term 2 Week 10
Dear Parents and Caregivers
As we come to the end of another term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful journey we have embarked upon together. This semester has been filled with countless achievements, challenges overcome, and moments of profound growth and learning. I am incredibly proud of our school community for its unwavering dedication and commitment.
Our students have demonstrated exceptional academic performance throughout the past two terms, with many students consistently exceeding expectations and pushing the boundaries of their knowledge. Their thirst for learning and the remarkable progress they have made are a testament to the incredible work of our talented teachers and supporting educators. We have strived to provide a nurturing environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a love for learning, and I am delighted to see the results of these efforts in the recent report cards.
At the heart of our Catholic school is our commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of our students. We have provided opportunities for prayer, reflection, and participation in religious activities that have deepened their understanding of their faith. Through our religious education program and community service initiatives, our students have grown in their relationship with God and their compassion for others. It is truly inspiring to witness the formation of young hearts and minds grounded in the values of love, compassion, and social justice.
Our school community has thrived due to the active involvement and support of parents, extended family, and the wider community. Your continuous support has been instrumental in creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for our students. Your commitment to partnering with us is deeply appreciated.
Last week, Federal Member, Louise Miller-Frost attended a special assembly to share with OLOG our successful application for the Schools Upgrade Fund of $20,500 for the purchase of ICT equipment and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Thanks to our Student Voice Leaders in their leading of our special Assembly.
Last week we were excited to share with the OLOG Community our school Master Plan. Following consultation with parents, Parish, staff, students and School Board and in collaboration with our architects Swanberry and Penglase the comprehensive Master Plan was ratified by the School Board. The OLOG Master Plan provides an exciting vision for OLOG, supporting growth of enrolments and ensuring all resources to facilitate excellence in learning.
Please access the link to the OLOG Master Plan.
Staffing Update
Alicia Miller will be returning as Educator Support Officer for the remainder of the school year.
Samantha Jones, whilst has resigned from her Year 6 position will be continuing as Inclusive Ed Coordinator next term. We also look forward to welcoming Alistair Fleming as Year 6 teacher and his depth of Primary Years teaching to OLOG.
Private Instrumental guitar teacher, Dido Durmanovic is finishing his guitar teaching at the end of this term. Over the last three years, Dido has worked with many students in guitar learning with great success. We thank Dido for his gifts that he has brought to guitar and music at OLOG.
We are currently looking to appoint a new guitar teacher for OLOG.
OLOG will also undertake a survey about further instrumental opportunities for students.
In conclusion, I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to making semester one successful. The collaborative efforts of our dedicated staff, the support of our parents, P&F special events and coffee mornings, and the enthusiasm of our students have all played a vital role in creating a nurturing and enriching environment. Together, we have built a community that embraces academic excellence, fosters spiritual growth, and nurtures compassionate children.
I wish you all a safe holiday break. May this time be filled with warmth, rest, rejuvenation, and quality time spent with loved ones.
We look forward to welcoming you back in Term 3.
Peace and Blessings

In Reception Maths the children are learning to use a range of strategies to solve simple addition problems. They have learnt the counting on strategy, friends of ten strategy and now they are learning about doubles. Students have been participating in a range of activities to reinforce their understanding and are learning to apply these skills to their everyday life.
The learning intention for this lesson was;
We are learning to use the doubling strategy to perform efficient addition.
The success criteria;
I can use unifix cubes to make doubles.
I can record doubles as an addition sum.
I can add doubles quickly by using my subitising skills.
As the term draws to a close I wish you all a safe and happy holidays. I hope that you have some rest and enjoy special time with family and friends.
Looking forward to seeing you all refreshed in Term 3.

Sporting Achievements
Alice Gallagher has made the U/12 State Netball Team and will be travelling to Perth 9-15 September.
Congratulations to Alice!
SACPSSA Netball Carnival
On Wednesday 5 July, all Year 5 and 6 students travelled to Netball SA in Keswick to participate in the SACPSSA Netball Carnival. The carnival was an opportunity for students to learn about the sport while promoting team-building and a healthy active lifestyle.
On Friday 30 June, both 2/3 classes set off for a day to the Adelaide Zoo. They explored where the animals originated from and watched the tiger feeding and bird flight show. The students were lucky enough to have a sneak preview to parts of the luminate show displays. They ended their day exploring the amazing playground.
Yesterday our Year 2 students visited Charles Young Aged Care Home. The students wrote letters introducing themselves and brought along their favourite story books to read with the residents. They made some new friends and said hello to residents they met on previous visits. They cannot wait to visit them again!
The growing season has slowed but the Green Team continues to roll on. This term we have planted seedlings, explored the usefulness of Greenhouses, pruned our fruit trees and weeded and harvested from the veggie beds. Students last week took home salad packs grown at school.

World Wellbeing Week was held in the last week of June. The Mini Vinnies Team made over 300 stress balls and raised over $500 which will go towards the St Vincent DePaul winter appeal. With such dedication and commitment, I would like to acknowledge this team of young people who have given up their lunch times putting these together.

Hello Everyone,
During the term we have completed many activities including the map with people adding where are they from. We have also enjoyed the food being cooked by myself or the other educators. In the last couple of weeks we played a week long game of among us with one imposter winning the game, congratulations Ivy on that one. The students have also enjoyed making slime and some of the new crafts activities.
A few weeks ago we welcomed Georgia to the team. Georgia has won a position with SA Ambulance and we wish her all the best in this new role.
Now as the term comes to an end I hope everyone will have a good and safe holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone next term.
Kind Regards,
Jonathan Bolt
